Reading And Leeds Festival Announce Bands

Hey Everyone!
The annual UK Reading/Leeds Festival have announced their first round of bands! Yes, very exciting... its times like this that I wish I had the money to travel to the UK. I've always wanted to see this show. Year after year they have amazing line ups and massive crowds. UK festivals are so much different than the Warped Tour and Coachella style festivals we have here!

Reading Festival began back in the 1960s as a Jazz festival, and has continued almost annually in some way shape or form since then. For the past few years, it has drawn a primarily rock oriented crowd with names like Green Day, Radiohead, Muse, Metallica, and a very memorable set by Nirvana. The three day festival takes place over the August bank holiday in the UK and involves the use of several stages and multiple locations.

Bands confirmed to play this year's bill include: Blink-182, Guns N Roses, Arcade Fire, NOFX, All Time Low, Weezer, Modest Mouse, Queens Of The Stone Age, Mumford And Sons, Thrice, and more!

What do you think of the line up? Anyone wanna take a trip to the UK with me???

Cokie The Clown Video Footage From SXSW

WARNING: THIS VIDEO/BLOG TOPIC IS VERY DISTURBING/OFFENSIVE
WATCH AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION

Hey Everyone!
So I'm sure many of you have heard about the highly disturbing and somewhat outrageous set performed by NOFX frontman, Fat Mike, at this year's SXSW festival in Texas. Well, some video footage has finally emerged, and its just as bad as you imagined... maybe worse.

For those of you who arent aware of the events, let me give you a little background. Fat Mike played on the lsat night of this year's SXSW festival at a club called Emo's Annex. He took the stage as his alter ego, Cokie The Clown. Now, this is not your happy-go-lucky clown, no. This is a very morbid, very disturbed, depressed version of the childhood party guest. Cokie started his set by taking shots of tequila, and distributing the rest of them to the eager audience who downed them quickly. He proceeded to tell stories of a very disturbed childhood... there were stories of death, abuse, rape, substance abuse... you name it, it was mentioned. This went on for about 40mins. At the end of that, Mike told the crowd to "enjoy a little video he made on TV"... and I'm not sure ENJOY is the word. More like, watch this and run for the nearest bathroom I think. The video showed Mike emptying some of the tequila backstage and replacing the missing alcohol with his urine. Yes, everyone who took a shot went home with just a little more than they bargained for that night... ew.

Now that you're all caught up, you can check out the video in its entirety HERE. If you're stomach is strong and you arent easily offended anyways...

So what do you think of Mike's antics? Has he gone too far this time?

Something Corporate To Release New Music!

Hey Everyone!
For the first time in about 6 years, Something Corporate have announced plans to release a cd. The double disk will be called "Played In Space: The Best Of Something Corporate". It will contain the best tracks from the bands collection as well as a second disk containing a new song called, "Wait", a recorded version of fan favorite "Konstantine", another beautiful unrecorded track "Watch The Sky", and some new mixes of old tracks. Personally, as a long time fan of all these tracks, I'm super excited to see this come out. It feels like a better way for the boys to say goodbye, unlike the super sudden hiatus of 2004 that took a lot of people by surprise. I mean, it sucks to not be able to say goodbye to a band that you love, right? The CD is set to be released in April, could a tour ensue? Only time will tell! This announcement comes shortly after their reunion performance at California's Bamboozle Left Festival.

Are you psyched for new Something Corporate??? I AM! BRING IT ON!

Taking Back Sunday Member Changes/Reunion?

Hey Everyone!
Looks like New York boys, Taking Back Sunday are switching things up a little bit... more specifically, their band members! Both Matt Rubano and Matt Fazzi have made announcements that they will no longer be playing with the band. Neither member eluded as to why they made this decision, or if they had a choice to leave at all. Simply stated, they thanked their fans for the support and the rest of the band for the years they spent on the road and in the studio. These announcements come not long after the band noted that they planned to re-enter the studio to work on a new album. However, this is not where it all ends. After all, nothing can be that simple, right?

Within an hour of these announcements, TBS posted a photo on their website with the addition of two former members, Shaun Cooper and John Nolan, all members with black bands across their eyes "masking" their identities. This caught a lot of attention from fans who are eagerly awaiting official confirmation of the re-addition of the former members.

To further push these rumors, Shaun and John both took to their twitter and tumblr accounts. Each of them posting somewhat ambiguous messages about new developments and the excitement of the future. John posted: "Look Out!" and Shaun posted "I have a feeling things are about to get extremely weird..." both messages suggest that the rumors have some ounce of truth, and both were posted within 10mins of each other. All very interesting, indeed!

So what do you think of the possible reunion? Will you miss Matt x2?

Hayley Williams Covers Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance"

Hey Everyone!
I stumbled on this while attempting to distract myself from my latest essay. I thought it was pretty sweet so I decided to post it here and see what you think! The video is of Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams doing a brief piano cover of Lady Gaga's smash hit Bad Romance. I love it, she sounds fantastic. I wish she played the whole song though. Check out the video below!

PS. All you Paramore fans out there, dont forget to check them out as they headline this year's Honda Civic Tour with Tegan and Sara! More information about that tour can be found HERE.

What do you think of the cover? Will you be going to see The Honda Civic Tour this year?
I usually do check it out, but they apparently dont like Canada this year so I'm out haha

Who Got Green Day Tickets?

Hey Everyone!
As I mentioned earlier, Green Day announced a tour with AFI as their headliners and many of the dates went on sale this weekend. I know I have my prized possession, ONE FLOOR TICKET ready to be picked up on August 18th, how about you guys? Anyone else going to the Toronto show? I'll be there doing everything in my power to get on that stage at some point. Last tour they chose a few fans each show to come up and sing Longview... man, I could SO do that. So watch for me to get up there because it is certainly high on my priority list haha I can think of nothing better than singing on stage with my favorite band... AMAZING. I will definitely be brushing up on my Longview karaoke skills...

How about you? Planning to make sure you're ready to sing this beside Billie Joe, Mike and Tre?

Refused Reunion In The Works?

Hey Everyone!
"CAN I SCREAM?!" Oh yes, yes you can! Because it seems that punk rockers Refused may be back after a rather extensive (over a decade) long hiatus. Apparently, these things do sometimes come to an end. The announcement came via the bands website, which was relaunched and sporting a brand new "coming soon" logo. Exciting news for fans around the world, thats for sure.
The Swedish hardcore punk group formed back in 1991 and maintained some steady popularity until their breakup in 1998. Over the course of their career, they only released 3 studio albums (This Just Might Be The Truth-1994, Songs to Fan the Flames Of Discontent-1996, and The Shape Of Punk To Come-1998) and 5 Live EPs, but the definitely held a very steady fanbase throughout their early years.

I know this track is one of their bigger, more well known tracks but I have ALWAYS loved it. Since the first day I saw it on the Punk Show. So here it is, New Noise by Refused. Enjoy!

Are you stoked for the Refused reunion? I know I am... BRING BACK HARDCORE PUNK!

Protest The Hero Rock Toronto On 2010 Snocore Tour

Hey Everyone!
Last night I got the fantastic opportunity to head to Toronto with my friend (and amazing photographer) Andrew Colvin to see the 2010 Snocore Tour featuring headliners, Protest The Hero. I havent seen these guys play since they opened for Mobile at a free concert for my University orientation week but I was definitely reminded why this band was always a favorite friday night show for me when I was in High School.

The first band to kick off the show last night went by the name, Doll. Hailing from Ottawa, the quartet was met with mixed reviews from the crowd. The female fronted grunge band left many people in the audience confused and unimpressed with their strange cover songs and messy playing. The band was all over the place, struggling to maintain a steady unison. They did manage to perform with fantastic energy, and some clear heart... but sometimes that doesn't quite cut it. The band may have some potential, but there they certainly a long road of work ahead.

The next band to take the stage was Elias. This pretty boy four piece played an amazing set filled with soft lead vocals and absolutely flawless harmonies. To say I was surprised would be an understatement. It was almost unfortunate that the crowd was hesitant to accept them- but completely understandable considering the way they stood out against the more aggressive bands on the tour with their indie rock piano melodies. They played in perfect sync, not a note out of key. If you love piano based indie, I highly recommend checking these guys out. I see big things for them.

The final opening act of the night were Victoria BC natives, Theset. I've seen these guys play before at Call The Office and they were just as good as I remembered. The band was just what the crowd needed, a loud wake up call. Their set was very high energy both in terms of music and performance. Strong, solid sound mixed perfectly with confident stage movements. It was exactly what you want to see at a show- passion. Another band I would recommend keeping an eye on in the future!

Finally, the last band of the night, headliners Protest The Hero, took to the stage. The Whitby, Ontario, boys ripped through a set of old and new tracks that had the crowd screaming along with impromptu sing-alongs. Their comedic stage antics proved to be highly entertaining... at one point they even managed to inspire a chant for a former classmate who happened to be hiding amidst the crowd. Between beers and guitar solos, I was slowly reminded why I always used to make the trek to the embassy on the occasional Friday night to check them out. Loved them, great job boys!

All in all, the Jagermeister supported tour managed to wow the crowd. It was a great night.

Ontario's own Protest The Hero captivated a packed house Friday night at the Sound Academy in Toronto as the headliners of the 2010 Snocore Tour. The heavy rock quintet tore through a set of technically aggressive tracks and comedic stage antics, drawing the crowd into a frenzy. Opening acts included Doll, Elias, and Vancouver natives Theset.

Anyone else manage to catch this show? What did you think?

Metro Station Call It Quits

Hey Everyone!
So it seems that the inevitable MAY have finally happened. Yes, my friends, pop punk wonder boys Metro Station, who took the world by storm with their Hannah Montana ties, MAY HAVE BROKEN UP. Yes, the rumors are flying that the trio have called it quits once and for all, leaving the realm of egotistical, over tattooed emo rock open for the next up and comers.

Now, truth be told I did used to like this band. I saw them back before they hit it big with Shake It and they had SO much potential. Young, enthusiastic, somewhat talented... and then they blew it by leeching of the Miley Cyrus fame connection, and turning away from talent in order to jump on the pop punk band wagon. Sorry boys- you lost it. You lost all the passion and soul in your music. Its sad, but it happens. Since Blake & Andrew left, I've basically been WAITING to hear this, and I'm curious to see some confirmation beyond a University Press haha. However, point remains... I believe it.

So what do you think of the breakup? Seems like a lot of us saw it coming

Alkaline Trio To Play ALL Dates On 2010 Vans Warped Tour

Hey Everyone!
Man, the 2010 Vans Warped Tour is definitely shaping up to be one you dont want to miss! Especially if you take into account the latest announcement that Chicago group Alkaline Trio will now be playing the entire duration of the tour! Yes, thats right, they will be playing ALL AMERICAN AND CANADIAN DATES... barring of course: illness, injury, border difficulty, animal attacks, bus breakdowns, grand theft tour van, heat exhaustion, or serious destruction of instruments due to serious rock n roll. These guys are so fantastic live, I love them. I got my first real chance to see them when they opened for Rise Against last year and it was definitely well worth the extensive wait. I highly suggest giving their set a listen if you find yourself at warped tour this year with some spare time on your hands (yes- I know thats rare but it DOES happen sometimes haha). The band will be supporting their seventh studio album, This Addiction, which was released Feb/2010.

Do you plan to check out their set? If so, I'll see you in the pit!

Feeling Invincible

Hey Everyone!
Ever have one of those days where you just feel that you can do NO wrong? Like no matter what, for no reason at all, things will just continue to go your way? Thats how I'm feeling right now. I'm actually just on top of the world and totally 100% at peace with life... its fantastic. I dont think I've ever been this content with pretty much everything around me. So, in honor of my great day (and hopefully yours too), I'm going to leave you with a song that pretty much sums up how I feel today... well, I guess to be super technical it would be more fitting about a week and a half from now, but still its definitely close enough ahaha Its a little track called "21 and Invincible" by Something Corporate because honestly, I feel pretty invincible :)

Have you had a day like mine before? Tell me about it! I'd love to hear some stories :D

Panic At The Disco Imposters On Facebook

Hey Everyone!
Man, what is it with people pulling these stunts? Is it fun to pretend to be a famous person and look like a total creep when you get caught? I dont understand...

Panic At The Disco took to the web today to dispel rumors of facebook accounts and bogus music video shoots. According to the brief but VERY important release, the guys were notified of several fake internet social networking profiles which advertised that the band would be shooting a new video in New Hampshire and were looking for some girls to give them tours of the city. They are pleading with fans to ignore these fake requests for their own safety as they have no intentions of being in the New Hampshire area in the near future.

Again, all I have to say is MAN THAT IS SO CREEPY! I mean come on, how many bands advertise that they could use some female tour guides while in town? Their fan base is generally young, so no way would I believe they'd ask that... Girls, a note of caution: any band that suggests something like that is either being hacked, or they are Motley Crue back in the day haha. Either way, not a good plan! I can only imagine what kind of place these creeps are telling the 13yr old fans to meet them...Please, be careful. Do not agree to these kinds of requests even if its posted on an official looking site. I mean, facebook isn't exactly safer than Myspace... You can pretend to be whoever you want, keep that in mind.

Play safe everyone, and kudos to Panic for the press release to fans!

Ben Folds Ode To Merton

Hey Everyone!
So by now, I'm sure most of you have seen the latest internet sensation- Merton. If not, click the link and prepare to be amazed! This guy is a product of the latest social networking craze, Chat Roulette. If you don't know what that is, its a website that connects you to webcam conversations with random people across the world... you see a lot of inappropriate stuff but theres also INCREDIBLE stuff like this guy! Basically, he improvs piano songs for the people he comes across on chat roulette. He's genius, and it is my new official goal to find him online! Chat Roulette, it is my new life dream to find Merton and be serenaded so I do intend to spend some time on you later haha. Anyways, moving on...

As a kind of tribute, if you will, to Merton, Ben Folds decided to play a little round of piano improv on Chat Roulette at his concert in Charlotte, North Carolina. I have to say, I'd LOVE to stumble onto this scene on the site. How crazy would that be? Even being at a show and seeing this happen would be pretty sick. Its amazing the ways in which technology is progressing, who knows whats next?! Check out Ben Folds performance below!

Patrick Stump Performs Solo Act For First Time Live At SXSW

Hey Everyone!
As I mentioned a while back, after FOB went on Hiatus, lead vocalist Patrick Stump decided to give a solo project a try. The talented, young multi-instrumentalist took to the stage for the first time at Austin's annual SXSW music festival in a small capacity club of 21+ fans. Still clearly getting used to the idea of solo performance, I have to say I think he did a good job.

The rough tracks sound pretty catchy, definitely a lot of potential there. A few fans noted the fact that he's starting to prove he can write lyrics ... maybe he doesn't need Wentz after all? Personally, I have always admired his musicianship. From his production/studio work to his vocals and guitar style on FOB albums past and present, he has proven himself as a very well musically educated young man... keep in mind, he's still only in his 20s and already quite accomplished in the pop-punk world.

Check out the videos of his performance below.

More videos of the set can be found here at Absolute Punk.

What do you think of the new solo Patrick? Awkward, perhaps. But I see big things!

Green Day Back In The Studio Already

Hey Everyone!

I'm Back! Did you miss me? I missed writing thats for sure. Double vision is pretty much gone, and no more aversion to light! YAY. Lets hope the little furry angels dont manage to pull that stunt again.

So apparently for California punk trio Green Day, there is no such thing as too much studio time! Less than a year after the release of 21st Century Breakdown, their follow up to smash hit American Idiot, the boys are already in the process of demoing some new material they wrote on the road. Kerrang Magazine is reporting that in a recent interview, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong claims the band used their time off between shows to start working on the new tracks. I think this is good news, at least now we know its not likely that we'll be waiting another 4-5 years for the next brilliant piece of work from these guys! However, I have to say my expectations are getting higher now that they're clearly getting more ambitious, not to mention a huge head start with lots of time to perfect the tracks. Pressure is on boys... even if you really have nothing left to prove to anyone haha.

So what do you think of the early demoing? Excited? I am!

Top Ten St.Patrick's Day Drinking Songs

Hey Everyone!
So my eye is not quite better yet, vision is still a little blurry but I think I can make it through this VERY important song. You all know what tomorrow is, right? ST.PATRICK'S DAY! Aka yet another excuse for us University students to dress in ridiculous outfits and take to the bars for some serious alcohol consumption. In honor of this drunken occasion, here is my list of the top 10 Irish (or Irish-Sounding drinking songs) for you to listen to tomorrow while you down some green beer!

10) **** You, I'm Drunk by Bondo... Various artists have covered this song, but I picked this one in order to avoid having an entire list of Flogging Molly songs... I'm a little obsessed even when its NOT St.Patrick's day haha they're fantastic. But back to this track... "I walk in the bar and the fellas all cheer, They order me up a whiskey and beer, You ask me why I'm writing this poem, Some call it a tavern but I call it home"

9) Pints of Guinness Make You Strong by Against Me... Come on, the thoughts of Pints just screams St.Patrick's day... just make them Green! Maybe a little sad, but still in the spirit of the season. "And just like James, I'll be drinking Irish tonight, With the memory of this last work week will be gone forever"

8) Devil's Dancefloor by Flogging Molly... Another classic by American Celtic band Flogging Molly. "But nothin' ever came, From a life that was a simple one, So pull yourself together girl, And have a little fun"

7) Whiskey In The Jar by The Dubliners... Cover of a classic Irish folk tune, awesome track.

6) Seven Drunken Nights by The Kilkenny Brothers... This song's title essentially speaks for itself. Combine that with the lyrics and you've got an instant crowd classic. "Ah you're drunk, you're drunk, You silly old fool, Still- you cannot see?"

5) Wasn't That A Party by The Irish Rovers... This cover of an old Tom Paxton hit is an absolute March 17th must. "Could have been the whiskey, Might have been the gin, Could have been the 3 or 4 six packs, I dont know, But look at the mess I'm in!"

4) Have A Drink On Me by AC/DC... not exactly Irish, but this song completes the list. Listing various drinks and signs of intoxication, its the perfect drinking anthem! "So come on and have a good time, And get blinded out of your mind, So don't worry about tomorrow, Take it today, Forget about the check, We'll get Hell to pay, Have a drink on me"

3) Home For A Rest by Spirit Of The West... Classic. Thats really all that there is to say about this track. St.Patricks is NOT complete without a bar filled sing-a-long of this Canadian tune. This will be the students anthem once the celebration has ceased, guaranteed. "You'll have to excuse me, I'm not at my best, I've been gone for a week, I've been drunk since I left"

2) Kiss Me, I'm Shitfaced by The Dropkick Murphys... I'd call this the Men's Anthem of St.Pat's. All about drunken make out sessions with girls you wish you never forgot. "She kissed me, And I only bought her one round"

1) Drunken Lullabies by Flogging Molly... Perhaps my favorite on the list, there is no better song for St.Pats, its true. "'Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess, Singing Drunken Lullabies"

So enjoy your St. Patrick's day! Eat, Drink, Dress In Green & Be Merry!
Celebrate That Irish Heritage You May Or May Not Have, Embrace It For A Day Haha

To My Readers

Hey Everyone!
This is actually painful, and in a physical way. Here's the deal, you may notice my lack of posts... theres a reason. This weekend, one of my 4 week old kittens was playing, he reached up to tug on my nose ring and managed to catch my eye instead. I spent the afternoon in and out of doctors offices making sure there was no permanent damage. Turns out, there is none thank goodness. BUT I have eye drops, tylenol and advil for a week to look forward to, as well as sunglasses indoors and out. So yeah, light is a big aggrevator to my eye right now... hence why this is painful. Fluorescent computer lights are not ideal for my situation, as a result... fewer blogs until it heals. I do fully intend to write one tomorrow in honor of wednesday (St. Pat's) but otherwise... not so much! I am sorry, and I will be back to writing as soon as I can. Thanks for understanding!

Wicked Cobra Starship Hot Mess Remix

Hey Everyone!
The remix is anything BUT a Hot Mess... its amazing! I stumbled across the Fueled by Ramen blog via twitter and I have to say, this Kids of 88' remix is just ridiculous in the best way possible. They really took the track and reinvented it... gave it an entirely new, and equally awesome vibe. Its kind of ghetto old school rock with a Spanish flavor totally fitting of the band (if you know Cobra, you know Gabe is proud of his Uruguay heritage).

I highly recommend giving it a listen and maybe even adding it to your own Itunes collection! Check it out below

What do you think? Amazing right? Congrats Kids Of 88' on this fantastic mix!

It Was Just A Pop-Rock Kind Of Day...

Hey Everyone!
The weather here is just gorgeous today! Its FINALLY feeling like spring, and I'm loving it. As soon as I woke up, I opened blinds and windows to take advantage of the sunshine and fresh air. I suppose I shouldn't complain about snow and such because honestly, winter was not even that long this year. This is a relatively early spring. I just adore warmer weather though... something about it just puts me in a great mood. I went on a walk downtown this afternoon, just to get out in the sun for a few hours. I walked by a bunch of restaurants, hoping that maybe a patio somewhere would be open... not that I have any money to be spending on lunch downtown right now, but I think today is the kind of day where McDonalds in the park would totally cut it haha. Any excuse to be outside.

Anyways, I feel that days like this have a certain soundtrack to them... Its different for everyone, but I absolutely need pop-rock music for spring days like this. I need something light, happy, upbeat you know? The punk tracks on my ipod were just not cutting it... they're too angry and aggressive for days like this. We The Kings, Fall Out Boy, early Good Charlotte (very high school, I know), Something Corporate, All Time Low, Maroon 5, Rocket Summer... these are my choices for sunny spring days! They just totally reflect the happiness I feel with the warm winds and blue skies. I know they all seem somewhat juvenile and young, but maybe thats why they fit so well- Spring feels like a young season. Most of these bands sing about things like youth, love, new beginnings, and friendship- themes that I feel definitely embody my idea of spring. What do you think, is it just me or do you see my point of view here? Haha

What are your choices for the first few days of spring? Any favorites?

Loving This Track- 30 Seconds To Mars "Hurricane"

Hey Everyone!
So just a short post today. I was doing homework in the University Community Center the other day with my ipod on shuffle (yes- best feature EVER) and it came across this track which I had recently purchased on Itunes. Its off 30 Seconds To Mars' new album "This Is War". The song is called "Hurricane" and its beautiful... Leto's voice, the stunning lyrics, the piano melodies, the whole thing just works wonderfully. Now, this version of the track features an interesting guest vocalist- Kanye West. Yes, the rapping you hear is IN FACT Kanye. There is a Kanye-less version which is also fantastic, but this is my favorite version so this is what I'm going to post haha ENJOY!

"Tell me would you kill to save a life? Tell me would you kill to prove you're right? Crash, crash, burn. Let it all burn."

What do you think of new 30 Seconds To Mars? I have to say this is REALLY making me think about buying a ticket for their upcoming tour!

Bob Bryar Says Goodbye To The Black Parade

Hey Everyone!
For all you My Chemical Romance fans out there who were looking forward to the band's return... I've got some somewhat sad news for you... Drummer Bob Bryar has announced his departure from the band. Sad, yes, I know. He was a pretty rad dude (or so I assumed from our one 10min discussion a few years ago haha).

Me with Bob Bryar QUITE A FEW years ago haha he was awesome.

Bryar joined the group back in 2004, replacing previous drummer Matt Pelissier. His precision and technicality in his craft did not go unnoticed. He did not fade into the background like Matt, he was part of the band 100%, for fans as well. This guy went through all kinds of injuries in the group, there was some serious dedication involved... so its with heavy hearts that we say goodbye and wish him the best of luck in his future. Frank posted a message to the band's official website to share the situation...

"As of 4 weeks ago, My Chemical Romance and Bob Bryar parted ways. This was a painful decision for all of us to make and was not taken lightly. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors and expect you all to do the same."

So best of luck Mr.Bryar, hopefully you find something that makes you happy!

Patrick Stump To Perform At SXSW

Hey Everyone!
So as most of you know, Fall Out Boy have taken a break... an "indefinite hiatus", whatever that means. Even they dont seem to be too sure haha. Anyways, the guys are taking this chance to try their hand at new styles- including Patrick Stump's new solo career which looks brilliant. He has now revealed that he plans to take his one man band live at this year's upcoming SXSW Music Festival in Austin Texas.

Now, some younger fans may be a little discouraged as this event is listed as a 21+ only, but for those of you planning to attend who are legal, I highly recommend going to check this out before it takes off. The show will take place at the Dirty Dog Bar, Friday March 19th at 11pm. This will be the debut of the solo career, so who knows, maybe a few years from now you can talk about how you saw Patrick when he was fresh out of Fall Out Boy! I was lucky enough to see FOB play for a crowd of less than 40 on the Warped Tour a couple years before the smash hit "Sugar, We're Going Down". Its pretty much public knowledge that Patrick was originally reluctant to be the band's frontman. He's not a flashy guy, so I'd like to see how he handles a setting where theres no Wentz to distract the crowd... all eyes are going to be on him. Definitely a little bit of a different setting... 21+ bar, music he composed entirely alone... he's gonna do great!

If this video is any indication of his talent, I cant understand why you WOULDNT go see this!
ps. have to say I love the way Wentz is just sitting there while Patrick plays :P
Thats right, you twiddle your thumbs

Avril In Wonderland... And Its Pretty Bad

Hey Everyone!
So I was aimlessly clicking away on youtube last night as I sometimes like to do, and I stumbled upon this gem here. This is Canadian "singer" Avril Lavigne's addition to the Alice In Wonderland soundtrack, "Almost Alice"... and yeah, I have to say I am not impressed. Musically, the darker tones seem somewhat fitting of the film, but the lyrics... my god, really? I think they broke into the journal of a fourteen year old girl and transcribed it to music. Every stanza rhymes perfectly with the next one- and not in a good way haha. I just find theres a huge lack of creativity which I suppose isnt new for her. To her fans, I'm sorry but this is how I feel about it and nothing more.

The video shows Avril falling down the rabbit hole to Wonderland. Shes in some weird mall goth black wedding dress, and I'm pretty sure her eye color is being enhanced by something technological or by contacts. She runs around the woods and finds the Mad Hatter, and rudely departs from the party with some yelling about taking a stand (anyone know for what exactly?). Then we have some clips from the movie, and Avril eventually finding her way out of Wonderland as the song comes to an end.

Now, I have to wonder why she is even featured on this soundtrack. What has she done lately? Nothing... well, she got a divorce. Thats about it. I was a fan when I was a kid, I'll admit it. When Complicated first came out, I thought- man, thats cool. A chick rocking a guitar, wearing guys clothes... awesome. And then I came to realize that the guitar is more of a prop than an instrument, that she doesnt write much of her own music, and the clothing is more of a label decision in an attempt to sell more records. Now she's got long curls and wears heels and dresses. I'm not buying into it- sorry. Anyways, this is once again just MY opinion. I dont expect everyone to share it, and I wont criticize people who disagree with me.

Check out the video for yourself below

"Tripping out, spinning around, I'm underground, I fell down yeah, I fell down...I found myself in wonderland, Get back on my feet again, Is this real? Is this pretend? I'll take a stand until the end"

What do you think? Does it do Alice In Wonderland justice or not quite?

Canada Wins GOLD!

Hey Everyone!
So last night, after a VERY intense game, Canada's Sidney Crosby pulled through with the winning gold medal goal! Not long after, a couple friends and I hit the streets of downtown to join in the historical moment. Fourteen gold medals on home soil- what a sight! As the bar broke out in "Oh Canada", I began to reflect on what was unfolding before my eyes. What an incredible memory.... and with that, American readers- I APOLOGIZE but this has to be done.

First, a short recap...found HERE courtesy of CTV Canada

And now, to keep the party raging...

Thank you for an amazing game US, we look forward to our next meeting on the ice!
And in the mean time Canada- keep the parties coming
