Video: All Time Low Play "Weightless" Acoustic

Hey Everyone!
Today I just want to share a video with you. I came across this while link clicking on Youtube and its really well done. You know how some people sound great on an album mix, and maybe not quite so great when they play live and particularly acoustic? Yeah... you know what I mean. Sadly, for some people, acoustic sets can be dangerous because the soft guitar does very little to hide flaws. In fact, it pretty much serves to emphasize your voice! Thats why I was impressed with this acoustic performance by Alex and Zach of All Time Low. They play the hit single "Weightless" and in all honesty, it shows that Alex's voice is better than I ever gave him credit for. He clearly knows how to sing. His pitch and tone are both on par... its nice to see that the band has underlying talent outside catchy songs and the label desired look. Check out the video below, and prepare to be pleasantly surprised by what you hear!

Disclaimer: I actually LIKE All Time Low. I'm not trying to say that they are only in it because they are the kind of band that sells albums right now, its almost the opposite. I'm complimenting them on their ability to play very well in an acoustic set because it tends to be difficult for even the best bands these days. Just wanted to clear that up because I know it sounds like I'm being a little critical of them haha.

So what did you think? Well played or no? Share your thoughts!

Cokie The Clown Video Footage From SXSW

WARNING: THIS VIDEO/BLOG TOPIC IS VERY DISTURBING/OFFENSIVE
WATCH AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION

Hey Everyone!
So I'm sure many of you have heard about the highly disturbing and somewhat outrageous set performed by NOFX frontman, Fat Mike, at this year's SXSW festival in Texas. Well, some video footage has finally emerged, and its just as bad as you imagined... maybe worse.

For those of you who arent aware of the events, let me give you a little background. Fat Mike played on the lsat night of this year's SXSW festival at a club called Emo's Annex. He took the stage as his alter ego, Cokie The Clown. Now, this is not your happy-go-lucky clown, no. This is a very morbid, very disturbed, depressed version of the childhood party guest. Cokie started his set by taking shots of tequila, and distributing the rest of them to the eager audience who downed them quickly. He proceeded to tell stories of a very disturbed childhood... there were stories of death, abuse, rape, substance abuse... you name it, it was mentioned. This went on for about 40mins. At the end of that, Mike told the crowd to "enjoy a little video he made on TV"... and I'm not sure ENJOY is the word. More like, watch this and run for the nearest bathroom I think. The video showed Mike emptying some of the tequila backstage and replacing the missing alcohol with his urine. Yes, everyone who took a shot went home with just a little more than they bargained for that night... ew.

Now that you're all caught up, you can check out the video in its entirety HERE. If you're stomach is strong and you arent easily offended anyways...

So what do you think of Mike's antics? Has he gone too far this time?

New Vampire Weekend Video: Giving Up The Gun

Hey Everyone!
"You remind me of a few of my famous friends..." (P!ATD) Thats something that indie rockers Vampire Weekend might say these days. Especially in relation to their latest video release, which will impress even the biggest name droppers! Seems like everyone is getting into these guys! Check out the video here and see who you can spot!

So who did you catch? To list a few- Jake Gyllenhaal, Joe Jonas, Lil John and RZA of the Wu Tang Clan. Got a little bit of everything in there. Pretty impressive if I say so myself. A couple big names for sure. That definitely cant hurt your career! Not to mention, the tennis themed video is set somewhere that may look oddly familiar... cant figure out where you've seen it before? Check THIS out and you'll remember!

So what do you think of their new star studded video? Cool or No? Are they using fame to sell records? Or just having fun? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

New Music Video From Paramore: "The Only Exception"

Hey Everyone!
So this week Paramore finally released the video for their new single... and its well worth the wait for fans! This video and this song are both great, I have to say I cant stop listening to it. Check it out below!

The music video is very well done... I love the progression of time. As Hayley walks through each door, a new scene opens. And then, as she reaches the end, she realizes everything she is letting her fear and stubborn doubt control. As she returns to his arms, its clear that although love is never a guarantee, its sometimes worth taking the risk. Otherwise, you'll never know what you're missing out on.

My only issue? Again, just like the Brick By Boring Brick video... and pretty much every other video they have done, the boys are lost in the back ground. Does anyone care that their drummer Zac isnt even 20 years old yet? I'd say thats pretty impressive! In fact, they all started this really young, including Hayley. As much as she is the front woman and real draw for this band, I just would like to see more of the guys in the video... they tend to be the extras to the main plot and appear for a few minutes of a live performance.

I love the lyrics... there is something so beautifully breath taking about the emotion. In a world where a lot of people question the existence of true love, this song brings a new twist to the idea. There are exceptions to every rule, right? So why not this one? Makes sense to me. "I've got a tight grip on reality, but I cant let go of whats in front of me here, I know you're leaving in the morning when you wake up, Leave me with some proof its not a dream... Darling you are the only exception, and I'm on my way to believing" I think this is one of those songs everyone can relate to... we all wonder at one point in time if love is real or just some impossible dream until we meet that one person who makes us see the truth. For that reason, I have this song stuck in my head. A gorgeous little love song... wonder if its about Chad? (of New Found Glory- They're dating in case you didnt know!)

So what do you think of this song? I think it may be time for me to break out my guitar and start teaching myself some chords... been looking for a new distraction anyways, perfect timing!

Patrick Stump Goes Solo!

Hey Everyone!
As the debate around the Fall Out Boy "hiatus/breakup" rages on, lead vocalist Patrick Stump has only intensified the rumors of a split with his latest video post. A few days ago, Patrick took to the web with announcements that FOB is not his primary concern right now stating "I'm not in Fall Out Boy right now". This statement has been clarified by the recent video post shown below which shows Stump recording multiple instrumental tracks and vocals for his upcoming solo efforts.
Personally, I'm pretty excited about this. Patrick is an absolutely genius musician and vocalist. He writes amazing music and this solo will give him a chance to showcase his abilities outside the simplistic pop rock songs he is typically associated with. This is a great opportunity for him and I think he knows that.

My Apologies!

Hey everyone!
So I'd just like to take a minute in this post to say I am again, sorry for my lack of posting this week. I've just had a lot of work for school... a couple midterms, a couple assignments to do... you know how it is! So as of tomorrow, I should be back into my regular posting routine of about 5 a week because things will slow down! In the mean time, here's a video to watch and hopefully enjoy! It's Weezer's latest single "(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To". The album comes out this week, and regardless of the fairly poor reviews I've read, I'm still going to give it a chance because Weezer has always had a place in my heart. I had the chance to see them open for Blink-182 this summer in Toronto and it was incredible. Definitely go see them if you have the opportunity... aka December 5th, Air Canada Centre. I'll be there. Jack's Mannequin and Weezer... NO WAY THAT WILL BE A BAD SHOW! Tickets are available here

Link to the Video! (Embedding was disabled, sorry!)

Until tomorrow!

New Link To Green Day's "21st Century Breakdown" Video!

Hey everyone!
So as youtube likes to do because of "copyright" laws, they took down the video I had in my last post for Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown. Here is a new link to the MTV Canada player which should work just fine! Sorry about the glitch, hope this works!

PS. For anyone in another country, check your local MTV webpage and you should be able to access the video. If you still cant and you're willing to pay for a copy, you can find it on Itunes for about $2CDN.

New Green Day Music Video Hits The Internet!

Hello Blogosphere!
So I have to run to class... well, now actually! But I thought before I did so, I'd just share this with you because its pretty exciting for a massive Green Day fan like myself. Their new music video for 21st Century Breakdown is now online and available for download on Itunes. I know its not as great as their classics, but at the same time its a fantastic album and song. Give it a listen if you haven't done so already. I think this album is underrated thanks in part to American Idiot (which was again, good but maybe a bit over played?). Well here's the video, let me know what you think. Enjoy, and I'll check in later.
