Good news today for Jimmy Eat World fans! The band have announced an upcoming tour in support of their new release Invented. The tour will take the band across the USA and make a final stop in Toronto, ON. Check out the tour stops HERE and see if theres one in a city near you! I've sadly never had the privilege of seeing these guys play, but I do hear they're fantastic. If their recordings are any clue, I'd say this is one to see!

Good Charlotte Sign To New Label

Hey Everyone!
Man, this one takes me right back to my High School years! Yes, I admit. As a teenager, this band was a big part of my life haha. I had all the albums, I had the tshirts, and meeting Joel Madden was the highlight of my first Warped Tour experience. Those days are well behind me now, but every now and then, I still bust out the old GC albums and reflect on the 'good old days'. Anyways, back to the story!

Pop punk playboys, Good Charlotte are back with a new album and a new label to help them out! The boys have officially signed to Capitol Records, and will be releasing a new album by the name of Cardiology in October of this year. I honestly didnt even know they were still making music, but sure why not. I may not be their biggest fan anymore, but theres a 13year old out there somewhere I'm sure, who is getting the same fulfillment from their music as I once did, so kudos to them!

What do you think of a new GC record?

NOFX To Release "The Longest EP"

Hey Everyone!

So punk legends NOFX have announced that they will be releasing a collection of EP tracks. The tunes will date back to 1987 all the way to the present date. They have decided to title the work: "The Longest EP". Very fitting I'd say, including all those tracks would definitely make it a pretty long EP... most EPs are only a few songs long. However, with the average track length under 2mins, I suppose it could balance out. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Have to say, I'm not much a fan of NOFX. I know, I know, backlash awaits that comment in the punk community. I am sure that in admitting this, I could stand to lose a few followers. The thing is, I respect their career... they have worked long and hard to get where they are. I like that they have really solidified their place in modern punk history, HOWEVER, after watching them "share their opinions" on more than one occassion at various Warped Tours, I lost A LOT of respect for them. For me, Punk isnt about being so outspoken that you insult everyone around you... its about being free to believe what you want. Its about being your own person. But that doesnt mean that you have to criticize people for what they believe in... its not the way I work. I dont mind some of the music- a lot of it is great punk, but I just cant watch these guys play live shows anymore... its frustrating for me I guess. Anyways, thats my thought on the subject. Feel free to disagree, music is something that everyone has their own opinion on, especially when it boils down to the politics of the whole thing.

So new NOFX EP... looking forward to it? I'll give it a listen, but dont look for me at live shows!

Boxcar Racer Coming To Vinyl

Hey Everyone!
Yup- its true! Even though the band broke it off a while back, its been confirmed that Boxcar Racer's album will soon be making an appearance on vinyl. Perhaps a must have for any die hard Blink-182/Tom Delonge/Travis Barker fan. I have the cd and its pretty rocking. Have to say that tracks like "I Feel So" and "There Is" still make regular appearances on my playlists. Now, the vinyl is being sold through Hot Topic chains and is on a very limited count. Only 2000 pressings of a limited edition black and red swirl vinyl are available... so act quickly if you're interested! A great addition to any fan's collection.

Do you still rock out to Boxcar? Whats your favorite track?

New Lady Gaga Video For "Alejandro" Hits The Air

Hey Everyone!

Yes, its true! The latest in the long line of Lady Gaga epics has finally been released. The eight minute video is, in true Gaga style, an oddity. In the first minute alone it features men in fishnet stockings, and a circus inspired military march. Fast forward a little more and you have a very dark funeral and some pretty twisted imagery. Pretty standard for her, but still, she manages to keep it interesting for sure. There is definitely a lot to see haha.

Check out the video HERE and see what you think.

Anyone else seeing a LOT of more modern nods to Madonna here? I REALLY am!
As always, let me know what you think, lets talk music videos :)

Well people, the wait is almost over! This will be the band's Seventh studio release.

Excited for new Jimmy Eat World? I am!

New Anberlin Album Release Date

Hey Everyone!
So Anberlin have finally announced a date for their upcoming release. During a concert in New York today, lead vocalist Stephen Christian announced that the new album would hit the stores on September 21, 2010. It has tentatively been titled, "Dark Is The Way, Light Is A Place". Interesting title. Seems that those ridiculously long song titles trends may be taking a new shape in long album titles. Reinvention is a wondrous thing haha. The bands last album New Surrender was incredibly successful- reaching as high as #13 on the Billboard charts with their single "Feel Good Drag". I for one, cant wait to hear their new work. I'll leave you with one of my favorite songs by the boys of Anberlin. Its called "Time and Confusion". Enjoy!

How about you? Excited for new Anberlin music?

On The Radar: Kate Miller-Heidke "Caught In The Crowd"

Hey Everyone!
So not a big long post today, just going to share a sweet little song with you! Today's tune comes to you from Australian songstress, Kate Miller-Heidke. I havent heard much by her, but the song I came across is catchy, pretty, soft and really honest. I think thats what I like most about it. Its a story with a soft melody. I also quite like her voice... I wasnt sure on the first listen but after a few plays, its really grown on me. She's had two albums released, and is rather well known in the Australia/Europe circuit, so she's not a complete unknown... her airy voice just tends to draw the alt pop crowd that is gaining in popularity here lately. The song I'm going to leave you with is called, "Caught In The Crowd". Its a beautiful song about High School cliques that I think we can all relate to on one level or another. Theres a character for everyone. The victim, the bully, the by stander... we're all there. I urge you to listen to it... and then come back and listen to it again... maybe a few times. Its the kind of song that not everyone will love, but some people (like me) may like it more after a couple plays. Intriguing how that works, eh? Check it out below and see what you think!

PS. If you like it, check out the official music video here... I like this but embedding was disabled!
So what do you think? I've been singing this for DAYS now!

New Young Veins Track Featuring Jon Walker On Vocals

Hey Everyone!
New songs by Ex-Panic! At The Disco members Ryan Ross and Jon Walker have been hitting the net by storm lately. With the anticipation of the upcoming album on the rise, the guys have been posting new songs fairly often. The most recent of which is a little different. Its called 'Everyone But You' and features bassist Jon Walker on lead vocals. Its kind of cool... a darker tone than the other tracks we've heard. More minor chords... its sad, but I like it. If we go back to the 60s imagery that seems to relate so heavily to this album/this sound, I would relate this back to tracks like Elanor Rigby. Not nearly the classic that song is, but its a pretty similar composition I think. So check out the song HERE and see what you think. Not bad, I'm curious to check out this album when it comes out.

How about you? Do you like this new direction or would you prefer to see Panic make a comeback?

Miley Cyrus Turns Up The Heat In Her New Video

Hey Everyone!
Apparently Hannah Montanna has been laid to rest, and this is what we're left with. Teen pop sensation Miley Cyrus has released her latest video and she wants you to know, she cant be tamed! The video is a very dramatic spin from Miley's last single "When I Look At You" which is very light hearted and soft if you will... This new released features the young songstress dressed as some kind of raven/dark angel in a bird cage. Very reminiscent of a scene from King Kong. As the music kicks in, Miley spreads her wings and dancers appear at her sides. The next three minutes or so are filled with highly sexualized dance moves, revealing clothing and suggestive themes. I mean "I go through guys like money, Flying out their hands"... really?

Now, I'm not a fan of young Ms.Cyrus, and I know she is very sick of this cookie cutter Disney image... but thats what you signed up for, Honey! Now you have a fan base of pre-teen girls and you may wanna take a second to realize that you are in fact a role model. There are already enough little sisters, daughters and cousins singing about brushing their teeth with Jack Daniels, now they cant be tamed? Great. I'm looking forward to whatever pre-teen trend hits next. I can see it now... sequined bustier dresses for everyone!

Check out the video below to see what you think for yourselves...

Well? I mean, its not as bad as some videos but again, FAR CRY FROM MS.MONTANNA

New Vampire Weekend Video: Giving Up The Gun

Hey Everyone!
"You remind me of a few of my famous friends..." (P!ATD) Thats something that indie rockers Vampire Weekend might say these days. Especially in relation to their latest video release, which will impress even the biggest name droppers! Seems like everyone is getting into these guys! Check out the video here and see who you can spot!

So who did you catch? To list a few- Jake Gyllenhaal, Joe Jonas, Lil John and RZA of the Wu Tang Clan. Got a little bit of everything in there. Pretty impressive if I say so myself. A couple big names for sure. That definitely cant hurt your career! Not to mention, the tennis themed video is set somewhere that may look oddly familiar... cant figure out where you've seen it before? Check THIS out and you'll remember!

So what do you think of their new star studded video? Cool or No? Are they using fame to sell records? Or just having fun? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

No New Blink-182 Music Until 2011? Delonge Hints!

Hey Everyone!
So as any devoted Blink fan like myself knows, the band recently came off what was said to be a permanent break up and brought us the tour of the summer. Headlining cities around the US and Canada, the band have proven they are back with a vengeance. They have also confirmed that they are in fact working on a new studio album that will pick up where they left off nearly 5 years ago with their untitled release. Great news for fans around the world for sure. But fans who were expecting a speedy 2010 release date may be disappointed. In a recent interview, vocalist/guitarist Tom Delonge hinted that the new album will not see shelves this year.

The band is already in studio, writing and testing out some new material, but it appears the boys are in no rush to get it done. As they are still mending a friendship, it is possible that the chemistry in studio is also undergoing some repair. This is purely my speculation, but think about it... makes sense huh? I mean, on one hand you have Tom working on A&A, producing very "epic" for lack of better wording, songs. They have a lot of skill, a bigger message than some of the blink material their fans are accustomed to. Not to say that I think its better in any way. Just calling it as I see it, he has tried very hard to grow up and move away from the satan jokes and songs about drinking and sex. Maybe its hard for him to readapt to some of these classic blink associations? Mind you their last album definitely showed this same transition.

On the other hand, you have Travis who has been lending his drum talents to hip hop/remixing genres. Something pretty different from the pop punk that Blink is known for. Mark has been very active in the studios, producing up and comers. With all these different factors and influences, I think we can expect a longer writing process with some quite possibly brilliant results. Could this new side of Blink prove to be a new favourite? Who knows. The classics will always be just that- classics. But I am a big fan of transcending genres when its done right. And who better to do it well than three trained professionals?

Are you excited about the new blink album? How do you feel about waiting another year?

Movie News!

Hey Everyone!
I know this is a music blog, and as such there is really no place for movie news... but I'm just so excited! I just watched the latest trailer for the new Alice In Wonderland movie and I'm just loving it. This movie looks fantastic, no question. The effects, the costumes, the makeup, the plot... definite winning combination. Not to mention is being done by Tim Burton, an absolute genius in my books. So here you go, check out the trailer and see what you think!

New From First To Last Track

Hey Everyone
When I was about 14, I adored this band. One of my favorites, and though their sound has certainly changed a lot, I still enjoy the music and appreciate what they've sacrificed for their careers. They've been through a couple member changes, being dropped by labels, and playing endless tours of the not so pleasant club circuits. This just goes to really show me that for these guys, its not all about the money. Its about passion... the writing and playing of music itself. So for that, kudos to these 4 young guys from Georgia. I know that every time I have seen them play, its been an experience itself. A few years back they played at this dingy little club downtown that I called home, The Embassy. That show is still easily one of the best memories I have of that building and those years.

Photos: Mine, The Embassy July 28/2007

This past week, they posted a new track to their Myspace page called "Going Lohan", which will be featured on their upcoming album Throne To The Wolves (March 2010). I think its very much the direction they were going with their last album, the self titled release of 2008. I also feel that Matt's vocals have dramatically improved since then. He faced a lot of criticism on their last album because people expected him to live up to former vocalist Sonny Moore. Personally, I dont think that was fair. The band has clearly tried to move on and reinvent themselves since Sonny's departure,  and it was a lot of struggle to even release that album. So I hope this does well for them. I'd love to see them back on the ball, on top of their game. These guys are all very talented, very ambitious, very driven musicians. They dont back down, they dont give up, they strive to pull through every time. And I cant help but respect that.

Here's the song. What do you think? Yay or Nay? Let me know!

New Rocket Summer Music Video!

Hey Everyone!
Alright, so Bryce Avary of the Rocket Summer has finally released the video for You Gotta Believe from an identically titled 4 song EP which was released a couple months ago. This video is a little interesting, as it splices clips of Avary playing each instrument (he's a multi-instrumentalist) along side clips he asked fans to create and post to Youtube for possible use in the video. Cool idea, and a great way to connect your fans to your work!

Anyways, here is the video... Enjoy!

New Paramore Video: Brick By Boring Brick

Hey Everyone!
I have a newer music video for your viewing pleasure today. Its the latest single off Paramore's  album Brand New Eyes called Brick By Boring Brick. The video is more visually ambitious than many of their others, a clear cut concept and some series effects oddly enough do not overshadow the song too much. Hayley's freshly dyed blonde locks make their first appearance, a somewhat shocking change for the fiery redheaded vocalist but I think she pulls it off. The dress is also quite a turn of pace for her, but she looks great... classic and pretty. It also fits the twisted Alice In Wonderland vision of the video itself. The song is memorable... I'll probably find myself singing it here and there wondering where exactly I picked it up haha. Hayley's voice is strong and passionate as always. One thing I noticed, the band doesnt make much of an appearance... they're like extras. Kind of an odd little thing haha. Anyways, those are my thoughts, here is the video! What do you think?
