Silent Library: Possibly The Most Entertaining Show MTV Has Ever Made

Hey Everyone!
Now, usually, I do not enjoy MTV... nor do I recommend wasting your life on its mind numbing programming, but in this case I have to make an exception. Still equally painful for the mind, its entertaining aspect tends to overshadow its stupidity haha. The show, you may ask? Silent Library.

Basically a child's version of Jackass, the show takes a group of individuals, places them in a library setting, and assigns them a series of painful/humiliating tasks with dollar amounts attached for their successful completion. The catch? Like a typical library, all tasks must be completed in SILENCE. Yeah... its really easy to remain totally silent when someone is shooting you with a paintball gun to the chest lol. See my point? Funny!

Another fun part about this show? It is often slotted with celebrity guests. Cant even begin to tell you how priceless that is! Just the other day I watched the boys of All Time Low partake in the humility and I couldnt stop laughing.

Yes, its MTV... the "music television" with no music. Yes, its not something I'm really excited about because I personally cant stand the real world and all the spin offs it has produced. I mean, really... these people must be in their 30s by now! Why should I watch them run an obstacle course, sleep with everything in sight, and make utter fools of themselves? I'm 21. If I want to watch these shenanigans, I'll go to the bar and do it without a cable subscription haha. HOWEVER, this show is one of those "I dont want to think right now" programs, and I have always believed that everyone must have at least one of those tucked away for a stressful day! Big fan of it. If you're looking for something ridiculous to laugh at, I highly recommend checking this out!

New Vampire Weekend Video: Giving Up The Gun

Hey Everyone!
"You remind me of a few of my famous friends..." (P!ATD) Thats something that indie rockers Vampire Weekend might say these days. Especially in relation to their latest video release, which will impress even the biggest name droppers! Seems like everyone is getting into these guys! Check out the video here and see who you can spot!

So who did you catch? To list a few- Jake Gyllenhaal, Joe Jonas, Lil John and RZA of the Wu Tang Clan. Got a little bit of everything in there. Pretty impressive if I say so myself. A couple big names for sure. That definitely cant hurt your career! Not to mention, the tennis themed video is set somewhere that may look oddly familiar... cant figure out where you've seen it before? Check THIS out and you'll remember!

So what do you think of their new star studded video? Cool or No? Are they using fame to sell records? Or just having fun? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

RIP- Jimmy "The Reverend" Sullivan of Avenged Sevenfold Found Dead

Hey Everyone!
I know I'm supposed to be taking a break from this blog, but I couldn't resist posting this when I heard the news. Earlier today, CNN and Avenged Sevenfold's official website confirmed that 28 year old drummer, Jimmy "The Reverend" Sullivan, was found dead in his home.

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan. Jimmy was not only one of the world's best drummers, but more importantly he was our best friend and brother. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jimmy's family and we hope that you will respect their privacy during this difficult time.

Jimmy you are forever in our hearts. We love you.

M Shadows, Synyster Gates, Zacky Vengeance and Johnny Christ

I'm in complete shock right now, it just seems that the year couldn't end without taking another young, promising life. I mean, we lost Michael JacksonBrittany Murphy, DJ AM, Patrick Swayze, and more, now this? It's insane. Never has the entertainment industry lost so many young artists in one year. Thats my opinion anyways.

Avenged Sevenfold is a band I've liked since my early years of high school. Their music is amazing... very heavy, very passionate and very intricate. These guys are no three chord punk band. I saw them play here in London a few years back, and it was phenomenal. Every member brings a critical element of musicianship to this band, I dont know how they're going to go on without The Reverend... He also played in a side project called Pinkly Smooth, with A7X lead vocalist Matt Sanders (aka M.Shadows). The Rev's past indulgences in drug culture are not much of a secret. Songs like Afterlife, were written by the late drummer and reflect on his struggles. Jimmy is said to have been clean for quite some time now, and I'm really hoping that drugs have no part in his death. It would only make the news even more tragic to know that this could have been avoided...

As for Jimmy, he is survived by his wife Leana MacFadden. An investigation is underway as to the cause of his death. CNN has stated that he was simply found unresponsive at home. These are still early reports, I'm sure more news will follow soon. I'll definitely update when I hear more. Stay posted. And to all his fans, family, and friends... this is truly tragic and shocking. The world has truly lost yet another talented young member of the entertainment community.

Rest In Peace, Jimmy... we'll miss you.

Song of the Day: Seize The Day by Avenged Sevenfold... Even though this song is about a lost lover, this song's message is so fitting of the loss. I'm sure it reflects how a lot of people are feeling in response to this news. The lyrics are almost haunting now... "Seize the day or die regretting the time you lost, It's empty and cold without you here, Too many people to ache over.... I see my vision burn, I feel my memories fade with time, But I'm too young to worry, A meoldy, A memory, Or just one picture..."

Hedley's "Cha Ching"- A Little Too Close To Reality?

Hey Everyone!
Anyone else find this some what entertaining? Because I certainly do. I was listening to the radio when Hedley's "Cha Ching" came on. The DJ talked about the music video, I'm not a Hedley fan but it sounded like a laugh so I thought I'd check into it. Upon a little more research, I came across the lyrics and the video for the song and I have to say, I was right. Definitely a laugh and a half.

The song is about reality TV and how people will sell themselves for stardom. Now, thats a pretty common theme in music today, the way society and celebrity interact on a purely superficial level instead of one dependent on talent... but this specific song takes on even more irony than the anti corporate punk band on the major label record contract. Anyone familiar with the band's singer Jacob Hoggart may feel like they recognize him from somewhere. Well if you watch Canadian Idol, that could be the connection you've been looking for!

Jacob was a contendor for the title of Canadian Idol a few years back. He actually came in 3rd place for the season. Now granted, his original audition was nothing more than a bet ($151 that he wouldn't do it) but still the fact remains, he WAS a contestant. After his run on the show, the band reformed and signed a contract. Below is a video of Jacob on C.I. in which he performs Bowie's Space Oddity... he also pays tribute to this performance in the "Cha Ching" video.
Now here is the video in question for Cha Ching... warning, it is highly likely that you will be stuck singing this against your will for the next couple days. Youtube embedding disabled so click HERE to watch/listen.

So what do you think? Funny or just kind of trying to mock something they have experienced? Personally I cant give Jacob much credit for saying reality TV is a joke and people sell themselves... after all, he sold himself for a bet, a few spotlights and $151!
