First Look At New Blink-182 Documentary

Hey Everyone!

Sorry for the lack of posting yesterday but I have been stuck changing around my course schedule for the term and it has been a little chaotic. I had no idea that you could be taking too many courses in your own faculty, but apparently I was! So I had to find some other faculties to take me in for a class and even it all out. Found a Sociology class that seems to be interesting enough so now I can kind of rest easy with my classes, thank goodness! Anyways, enough about that, onto the topic at hand: Blink-182.

Lately, the recording trailers for Blink's new "Blinkumentary" have been circulating the net. Early on in their summer tour, the band was asking fans to send in their concert footage to be "part of Blink-182" history. The film will capture the preparation that led up to the massive 52 date summer reunion tour including studio work, press meetings and rehearsals as well as footage from actual tour dates. The film is being put together by Haven Lamoureux, a long time friend and videographer for the group's side projects like +44 and Travis' remix work. Cobra Starship Performs At The People's Choice Awards

Hey Everyone!

Check out Cobra Starship's performance at the 2010 People's Choice Awards here. They performed Hot Mess and of course the smash hit, Good Girls Go Bad. Missing from the performance was Leighton Meester. Instead, the band had Nicole S. of Pussycat Doll fame fill in the female vocals. She wasnt awful, but I think I would have just preferred to see Vicky T take over as they do on tour. She's pretty good, if you cant have Leighton, she's the next best thing. Nicole just sounds like she's forcing it, screaming into the mic almost... its not natural and soft the way Leighton sings it. Her voice, I find, also does not blend with Gabe's very well. Its not the same harmony dynamics that the recording carries. I dont know... thats how I feel haha.

Story Of The Year- Sidewalks

Hey Everyone!

Today my writing professor had us chose a song to describe ourselves, and it made me realize there are too many to choose from. In a previous blog of this nature, I discussed the idea of a personal soundtrack... many songs that become interwoven in the fabric of our lives. When I thought about it, I realized this one was an important track for me personally. Its clearly about some kind of relationship, but for me its so much more than just a sad love song. Its about the nostalgia of life, the way we think back and remember a more simple time and how we probably took it for granted. I always thought life would always be simple when I was a kid, but as we grow up it becomes pretty evident that things change. We can always look back from where we are, but the weeds and cracks block us from ever going back down that road. So check it out, think it over, and see what you think!

Katy Perry And Russell Brand Officially Engaged!

So the rumors have been flying and many sources are now claiming that Katy Perry and her new beau Russell Brand are officially engaged! After a whirlwind romance for the past couple months, it is said that he proposed on their recent European vacation.

Congrats! I think they make a cute couple, what do you think?

American Idiot Coming To Broadway!

Hey Everyone!

It's Official! After much discussion and speculation, it has been confirmed that Green Day's hit 2004 album will be coming to New York's Broadway scene. The show found success earlier this year during a trial run in Berkley. After receiving a number of rave reviews from the band, critics, and fans alike, rumors began to swirl about a possible NY run. The show will run beginning April 20th at the St.James Theatre.

Flea To Release Line Of Affordable Guitars

Hey Everyone!

After discovering that his students were stuck playing poor quality instruments due to prices and the state of the economy, Flea of (Red Hot Chili Pepper fame), has decided to produce a line of affordable, quality bass guitars. In order to make this idea a reality, Guitar World is reporting that he will be using his own brand "Fleabass", which he began earlier this year.

I like this idea... so many signature models come with hefty price tags. As much as students desire the high quality, its often well beyond the instrument budgets of general society. I have to say though, after checking out how "affordable" the instruments are, I am not all that sure. Afforable is such a broad term. I find myself asking "affordable for who?" I mean, I certainly dont have $500 floating around to spend on an instrument. Two out of my three guitars were

purchased in pawn shops (great place to look for classic, working models!)

Flea is a highly respected musician, so I cant see him taking this lightly. I also have to admit, the guitar design itself seems pretty cool... love the bright, bold, contrast colors. Definitely eye catching and fun! His mission statement makes a good claim about the guitars as well, stating that they are built for quality, durability and the highest standards possible within the price range. He does not wish to mass produce a line of cheap guitars, but provide serious students with a line they can "fall in love with". Good luck!

Would you buy Flea's bass? If so, what color? Just curious haha I like the Punk Bass... but I think I'd rather save up for the Mike Dirnt or Mark Hoppus Fender models for an extra $500/ea... oh how I wait for the days I have a real job and can afford these musical luxuries ahaha

New Information On The Hoppus/Wentz Collaboration!

Hey Everyone!

Phew... just got back from the gym, kick boxing class. What a work out! Now I'm having lunch with some friends before I start up classes for the day... Organizing Post War Masculinity and Objectivity In Media Reporting. Sounds like an interesting night ahead of me! Anyways, on to business...

More information is steadily coming to light about the Mark Hoppus and Pete Wentz collaboration that I mentioned yesterday. MTV is reporting that in an email from Pete, he discussed that the two are working on song for the soundtrack of the upcoming Alice In Wonderland film being produced by Tim Burton. This only makes sense! The two are big fans (as noted by Pete's wedding theme- Alice In Wonderland inspired for sure!) As such, I expect some pretty cool work from them and I'm excited to hear it. I was skeptical but I feel like if this project is for something they are both excited about, it has the potential to be interesting and definitely worth a listen. Guess we'll be keeping our eyes and ears peeled for an early leak to see what the hype is all about!

Song of the Day: Campus by Vampire Weekend... great song, that pretty much says it all. To read more about them, check back a couple blogs where I discuss their upcoming album being leaked on myspace! I expect really big things from these guys, they're on a slow rise, but its about to take off at full speed with the release of Contra! Be ready.
