So today for the exam dance break, I have a side of Green Day you may not recognize... its a side project called The Foxboro Hot Tubs. This particular clip is from a performance on Last Call with Carson Daily. Its 2 songs... Stop Drop & Roll, and Mother Mary. I love it because the music is just fun, and the band's performance reflects it completely. If you are unfamiliar with this side project (one of many), they came together with this in between American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown. The idea was just to write and release something totally different, but to not use the Green Day name so that people understood that this was not the direction they were going permanently. They like to experiment musically, and this is one example of that. As much as I adore Green Day shows, I'd love to see something like this... no inhibition, no seriousness, no politics, just FUN.

ReplyDeleteOh it really is haha I'm sad I never got to see this side of them. Its cool, I love the way they interact with fans, the way they dont seem so authoritative, the way they do as international supergroup Green Day. Its just fun, carefree, old school rock with a playful edge. Thanks for the comment!
