Thom Yorke Warns Of Music Industry's Collapse

Hey Everyone!
Apparently, rock and roll icon Thom York of Radiohead, is warning us all that the music industry is in severe danger of collapsing. The very outspoken frontman is warning young bands to avoid signing with major labels because the industry will "fold within months". If you recall, Radiohead bid farewell to their longtime mainstream roots at EMI records to produce/release on an independent basis not long ago. They released their last album, In Rainbows, embracing the new digital era via the internet for prices of the fan's choosing. From nothing to 100 dollars, the album was worth whatever you wanted to pay. Interesting choice which I dont see being repeated... ever haha. So the question remains... is he right? Who's to say? I mean, there has been a VERY clear decline in album sales over the past few years with the invention of P2P file sharing and cd burning. Who's to say its impossible? Only time will tell I suppose.

What do you think? Is this a serious threat to artists? What does the future of the music industry hold?

Rolling Stone's Names Artist Of The Decade

Hey Everyone!
So today, Rolling Stone released its lists of the top artists, albums and songs of the past decade. The results are based on reader polls and encompass a variety of influential and popular artists of the last ten years. Artists like Radiohead, U2, Kanye West, My Chemical Romance, Lady Gaga and Coldplay can be found on the lists... but the overwhelming victor? Green Day. Green Day cleaned up each category... 2 of the top singles with American Idiot (#13) and Boulevard of Broken Dreams (#1), the top album of the decade with American Idiot, and the Top BAND of the Decade overall. I'm impressed. I will admit that yes, I am a little bias when it comes to Green Day as a mega fan myself... but come on, theres no denying these guys have worked hard to become the voice of a generation and deserve a spot on top. I'm thrilled for them. Its a name presented by one of the most respected magazines in the industry, voted in by the fans. Its pretty cool. So congrats to those bands who made the lists and congrats to Green Day... Rolling Stone's Band Of The Decade.
